Shipyard Pool is situated in a semi rural location just outside of Selby town centre in North Yorkshire. The lake is 2.4 acres and very quiet with only 6 swims.
From the banks it’s hard to believe that this tranquil oasis is just minutes from Selby town centre. The wildlife in the surrounding woodland is incredible as are the fish below the surface!
The pool is on a former historic site which has been undisturbed for many years, the lake itself is over 120 years old.
Selby Three Lakes Complex
Work to turn the site into a viable carp fishery began in 2013. The restoration work has been sympathetic and the whole lake retains a wonderful “wild feel” to it. It’s been stocked with 30+ fish from some of the UK’s finest carp strains. These complement the existing carp stock that have thrived in the lake undisturbed for many years.
Five years on from that first stocking we estimate the lake now holds around 100 truly magnificent carp. Hopefully a few of these will be pushing the 30lb barrier in time for the coming season (2018/19).
The lake is fished by a select syndicate membership and with only six swims is never overcrowded. For more information about the Shipyard Pool Syndicate please email mail Roger HIND, here.
Facilities: Toilet on site, general store and pizza shop 2 minutes walk. Bailiff 5 minutes away.
